Some of you might already know this, but I’m currently running my little art studio after my day job. After finishing my law degree, I stepped into the corporate world and now work as a lawyer. And honestly, I do enjoy my day job. But a big part of me has always known that painting and drawing are my first love—the place my heart naturally returns to.

This year, my intention is simple but important: to keep creating meaningful artwork.
This month, I’m working on a new piece titled “Portal.” It carries a deeper message for me—one about transformation. I think many of us have been in situations that feel unbearable, where we feel completely stuck. And sometimes, when there’s no obvious way out, the only place left to look is inward. That inner shift—the quiet decision to change—can feel like a quantum leap, one that slowly reshapes our reality. I hope this piece captures a little of that feeling.

On a lighter (and very exciting!) note—I received a proper drawing stand for my birthday 🥹

Before this, I was literally using an extra kitchen cabinet door as my drawing board. It did the job, but let’s just say it wasn’t ideal. Now I finally have a proper setup, complete with a ruler, and it has honestly made drawing feel so much better and more comfortable.

After a few small touch-ups, my art studio is starting to feel more like my space—a place where ideas can breathe and flow a little more freely. I can’t wait to share more behind-the-scenes moments with you as things continue to evolve.

Some of you have asked about the tools and things that make working in my studio feel easier and more joyful, so here are a few I genuinely love:

Drawing Board / Stand
I’ve been drawing on the Jakar A2 Draftline Drawing Board — it’s a wooden A2 board with a built-in parallel motion ruler and adjustable angles, so you can tilt it to your most comfortable drawing position. It feels so much better than working flat on a table (I used to draw on a kitchen cabinet door haha). It helps with posture, accuracy, and just overall flow when sketching and drafting.

🎨 Watercolours I Use
For my watercolour work, I mainly use Winsor & Newton Cotman paints. My go-to set is the Winsor & Newton Cotman Studio Set of 36 Half Pans, which includes 2 Artist’s Quality colours (Cass Art exclusive). I love this set because it’s incredibly versatile—perfect for both soft, delicate washes and more saturated details. The pigments are reliable, easy to work with, and great for layering, which suits my storytelling style really well.

Inspiration for Mindset + Creativity
A recent favourite is The Surrender Experiment by Michael A. Singer (I listen to it as a podcast while I paint). It’s such a peaceful yet powerful reminder about letting creativity unfold and trusting the process — something I deeply connect with both in life and in making art.

Thank you again for being here, for supporting my art, and for believing in this journey with me 🤍
